Labour migration programmes are built to attract migrant workers and help address domestic labour shortages. However, when visa restrictions and interacting policies, such as limited workplace protections, make it difficult for migrant workers to safely report abuse or leave their employer, they can drive exploitation.
We work to make labour migration routes safe by ensuring these policies are informed by migrant workers’ experiences.
