FLEX’s Claire Falconer featured as ‘a woman with initiative’

FLEX Legal Director featured on the International Women’s Initiative Survivor’s Blog as ‘a woman with initiative’ including an in-depth interview about why she co-founded FLEX.

“As a feminist I think I’m sensitive to gender issues in this area, and in particular to the kinds of paternalistic ideas that have historically characterised or at least informed human trafficking responses.  I think that this awareness of gender and power has helped shape the way that we work as an organisation – our focus on cooperative engagement with trafficked persons and their communities and support organisations, and on building the capacity of those organisations not only to respond to individual cases but to hold governments to account for their international obligations on human trafficking.”
